Procedure for Upgrading from
Referee Grade 8 to Referee Grade 7.
In consultation
with the State Director of Instruction and the State Director of
Assessment, the following process has been established by the State
Referee Administrator for all referee upgrades from grade 8 to grade
7.
Notice of
Intent to Upgrade.
Notice of intent to upgrade must be made in writing to the State
Referee Administrator. This can be done via email. Send notice to
sra@minnesotasrc.org. Include, your game log with the minimum
75 completed referee assignments and 25 minimum completed assistant
referee assignments. The State Referee Administrator will review
your game log and make sure you have had at least 12 months as a
grade 8 referee.

should include for each match:

An Excel
spread sheet is the desired format for game assignment logs.
Upgrade
Clinic and Written Examination.
Once
your game log and your 12 months as a grade 8 referee have been
verified, your name will be given to the State Director of
Instruction. You must schedule participation in the appropriate
clinic (Advanced, Intermediate or Recertification – Over 3 Years of
Experience). The clinic is a 5 hour instructional program. You
must score and 85% on the written test given at this clinic and also
pass the physical fitness test.
Upgrade
Assessment.
Upon
completion of the clinic, written and physical fitness test,
your name will be passed on to the State Director of Assessment for
scheduling of your upgrade assessment. This assessment must be
passed in a U17 or higher level match using the Diagonal System of
Control. A $40.00 check must be sent to the State Referee
Administrators office before your assessment can be scheduled. The

Process
order.
Above is the only process accepted by the State Referee
Administrator for upgrade form Grade 8 to Grade 7.
You must
accomplish these steps in this order:

Send Notice
of Intent to Upgrade and Game log for review and approval.

Attend
clinic, pass written exam with a score of better than 85% and
pass the physical fitness test.

Pass
upgrade assessment.
Your upgrade
will be put through as soon as notice of your passed assessment is
