Procedure for Upgrading from
Referee Grade 7 to Referee Grade 6.
In consultation
with the State Director of Instruction and the State Director of
Assessment, the following process has been established by the State
Referee Administrator for all referee upgrades from grade 7 to grade
6.
Notice of
Intent to Upgrade.
Notice
of intent to upgrade must be made in writing to the State Referee
Administrator. This can be done via email. Send notice to
sra@minnesotasrc.org. You must include your game log with the
minimum 100, U19 or higher*, completed referee assignments
and 25 minimum, U19 or higher. completed assistant
referee assignments. The State Referee Administrator will review
your game log and make sure you have had at least 12 months as a
grade 7 referee.

should include for each match:

An Excel
spread sheet is the desired format for game assignment logs.
Upgrade
Clinic and Written Examination.
Once
your game log and your 12 months as a grade 7 referee have been
verified, your name will be given to the State Director of
Instruction. You must coordinate with the SDI the preparation of a
curriculum equivalent to the required participation in a State
Referee Training Course, which is a 19 hour instructional program.
You must score and 75% on the State Referee written test given at
this clinic and also pass the physical fitness test.
Upgrade
Assessment.
Upon completion of the clinic, written and physical
fitness test, your name will be passed on to the State Director of
Assessment for scheduling of your upgrade assessments. You must
pass 2 assessments as a referee. One much be a Div 2 or higher adult
match. You must pass an assessment as an assistant referee in a U19
or higher competitive match. A $80.00 check must be sent to the
State Referee Administrators office before your assessment can be

Process
order.
Above is the only process accepted by the State Referee
Administrator for upgrade form Grade 7 to Grade 6.
You must accomplish these steps in this order:

Send Notice of
Intent to Upgrade and Game log for review and approval.

Attend the
training prepared by the SDI for a State Referee, pass State
Referee written exam with a score of better than 75% and pass
the physical fitness test.

Pass upgrade
assessments.
Your upgrade will be put through as soon as notice of your
passed assessment is given to the State Referee Administrator. Good
luck!
*U17 and U18 matches do not count towards upgrade.
